This Day in History

Did you know that on March 31st 1985 one of the world’s biggest events was to take place in Madison Square Garden in New York? Thousands of people crowded the venue to bear witness to what would come to be one of the world’s largest events, some having waiting in line for weeks for tickets. For months the anticipation was building as the the American Hero Hulk Hogan teamed up with Sgt Bosco “B.A.” Baracus himself, Mr. T, to fight for their honor and their countries against an enemy more vile than the commies, the Scots. The duo was to face the dreaded slaughtering Scot from the old country Mr. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper who was paired with former NFL runningback Mr. Wonderful himself Paul Orndorff. This fight was to be one for the history books as on this night the world witnessed the birth of the very first Wrestlemania. And awesomness ruled.

80’s Wrestling was the best. You had good guys and bad guys and although I swore it was real… until this writing when I had to do some research… the terrible acting and excessive drama were awesome. In the year 1980-29 (aka 2009), I believe all years after the 1980’s should be reference by their distance from 1980, wrestling is about foul language and sex, but 1985 Wrestlemania was a wholesome family affair…. where you get to see two grown ass men beat the crap out of each other. See if you can youtube any of these 80’s matches they’re awesome and better yet they made the careers of Mr. T and Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper even had his 15 minutes for a little bit.

I Survived The 80’s

228876_res1_80s3I can still remember crawling out of my mothers womb and right into the 80’s (Complete Lie). There were late nights of Nintendo and all day long Sunday marathons of every Back to the Future movie. I was shit scared of Jason and Freddy, but loved the Ghostbusters. Rick Astley was tearing up the charts and Michael Jackson was still black. Oh they were the times.

This site is for all the 80’s survivors that are ready to bring out the the shoulder pad jackets and high top Reebok’s. This site is for everyone that loved tube socks and florescent colors. This site is for everyone who said ‘Sike”. This site is the 80’s.
